German Gulasch

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 100 g bacon
  • 200 g onions or 3 onions
  • 200 g carrots
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 lbs beef, for stew
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 (14 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • 600 g bell peppers, diced
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans mushrooms
  • 2 cups broth (or more)
  • 1 cup sour cream or 1 cup flour, mixed with water

Recipe

  • 1 cut the bacon and onions into small slices.
  • 2 clean and dice the carrots.
  • 3 cook the bacon pieces until limp, then take out of the pot.
  • 4 add oil to the bacon fat and brown the meat in small portions.
  • 5 now add the onions and all the remaining ingredients, except sour cream.
  • 6 cook everything in a slow cooker for 8 hours on low heat.
  • 7 add sour cream or thicken with water/flour mixture.
  • 8 season to taste.
