Kat's Meat Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pinch seasoning salt (optional)
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1 orange bell peppers or 1 yellow pepper, diced
- 1 (10 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, rinced and drained
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (28 ounce) can italian stewed tomatoes
- 1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3 dashes worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon dried italian herb seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dried italian herb seasoning
Recipe
- 1 brown ground beef in a deep skillet or frying pan and drain off the majority of the excess fat.
- 2 add onion, garlic and seasoning salt, saute until translucent.
- 3 stir in peppers, mushrooms, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce.
- 4 let simmer for 10 minutes.
- 5 stir in worcestershire sauce and italian seasonings.
- 6 let simmer covered for 1 hour on low, stirring occasionally.
- 7 uncover and let simmer until reaches desired consistancy.
- 8 if using slow-cooker, follow steps 1 and 2.
- 9 in large (5 qt) slow-cooker, stir together contents of pan, peppers, mushrooms, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce.
- 10 simmer on high for 3 hours.
- 11 stir in worcestershire sauce and italian seasoning.
- 12 simmer on low for 6-8 hours.
