French Pot Roast (crock Pot)

Total Time: 5 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 4 -5 lbs rump roast
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 12 small carrots, left whole
  • 12 small onions
  • 1/2 lb mushroom, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 bay leaf, crumbled
  • 1/4 teaspoon tarragon
  • 2 cups dry red wine

Recipe

  • 1 heat shortening in skillet and brown meat on all sides.
  • 2 combine all ingredients in slow cooker and add browned meat. if wine does not cover, add water.
  • 3 cook on low 10-12 hours or on high 5-6 hours.
