French Pot Roast (crock Pot)

Ingredients
- Servings: 8
- 4 -5 lbs rump roast
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 12 small carrots, left whole
- 12 small onions
- 1/2 lb mushroom, sliced
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 bay leaf, crumbled
- 1/4 teaspoon tarragon
- 2 cups dry red wine
Recipe
- 1 heat shortening in skillet and brown meat on all sides.
- 2 combine all ingredients in slow cooker and add browned meat. if wine does not cover, add water.
- 3 cook on low 10-12 hours or on high 5-6 hours.
