Hot Mushroom Spread

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 -2 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper (to taste)
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed
  • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Recipe

  • 1 fry bacon until crisp; drain on paper towels.
  • 2 crumble bacon and set aside.
  • 3 drain off bacon drippings, reserving 2 tablespoons in the skillet.
  • 4 to the skillet, add mushrooms, onion, and garlic; cook, stirring often, until liquid is evaporated.
  • 5 stir in flour, salt, and pepper; add in cream cheese, worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce; cook, stirring constantly, until cheese melts.
  • 6 stir sour cream and bacon into mushroom mixture; cook until thoroughly heated, stirring constantly (do not boil).
  • 7 serve warm with assorted crackers or toast points.
